BIO

I’m Kay Shannon, and I graduated from Penn State University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Design in Professional Photography, a minor in Digital Media Trends and Analytics, and a certificate in Digital Arts.
At Penn State, I worked as a sports photographer for Comm Radio, capturing moments that enhanced live coverage and connected with fans. I also served as a Marketing Coordinator for the Penn State Sports Business Conference, where I managed the social media accounts. My achievements resulted in a 200% increase in Instagram engagement, a 40% growth in followers, driving over 37,000 views on TikTok, and helped generate $9,000 in ticket revenue. Beyond these roles, I was actively involved in the Association for Women in Sports Media and the Penn State Sports Business Club, where I continued to grow my industry knowledge and connect with like-minded students and professionals. I also received the Leslie P. Greenhill Photography Award.
In 2024, I interned with All-Star Sports Academy as a Photography and Videography Intern, collaborating with the marketing team to capture and produce media for prospect camps, showcases, tournaments, and signing days. I’ve also gained professional experience through the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Press Row Prospects Program, covering game-day operations as a photographer for the AHL team.
Currently, I work as a Freelance Media Assistant for the Lafayette Sports Network, supporting live broadcasts with photography, camera operations, and media production. I’m passionate about using digital storytelling to capture the energy of sports, engage communities, and bring fans closer to the action.
Through my experiences in sports digital media, I’m driven to keep pushing creative boundaries, telling impactful stories, and contributing to making an impact in the sports industry.
